Anna MaeDean (Dean) Meade Meeks 84 departed this life on July 13 at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility. She was born on September 18, 1927 in Everton, Missouri to Shelby and Ruth Meade. Dean as she was known to all grew up and attended school in Everton, Mo. Dean was a high spirited young child and always kept her parents and family members on their toes. To ensure her daughter received a well a rounded education and grew up to be a proper young lady, her mother enrolled her in voice, music and dance lessons. Dean was married to Harold Meeks in August 1944 and to this union ten children were born. She was an amazing Christian lady who brought forth more life than most will know and has left quite a legacy.

Dean was a strong hearted Christian woman and hard worker. She obtained her realtors license in the early 1970’s and worked for Bartlett Realty for many years. After leaving the realty business, she worked at American Family Insurance for a time, and then went to work for Cedar County in the Circuit Clerk and Recorders office where she worked until her retirement.

Friends and family were her passion and delight. She always had an open door policy and had a hand in raising many children. All of her children’s friends called her Mom and she was Granny Dean to her grandchildren and their friends. Dean was well known and very active in her church and community. She attended church faithfully and was a very active member as long as her health permitted. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America as a leader for several years, Stockton Community Theater, and served as a judge on the Festival Folks Committee for the Black Walnut Festival. Dean had an entertaining sense humor and will always be remembered as telling her fellow Sunday school members,” Be careful what you pray for, you might just get it!” She also loved to travel and was proud of the fact that she once saw the Queen of England while on a trip to Great Britain. She spent a month in Germany and also took many family trips to several different states, her favorite being Charleston, South Carolina. Preceding her in death are a son Robert Meeks, a granddaughter Jenna Hopkins, a sister Betty Ruth Meade, her parents Shelby and Ruth Meade, two nephews Terry Meeks and Johnny Phillips and a son-in-law Lloyd Earnest.
