Cynthia M. Pinnell Hayes “Cindy”

Cindy was born April 1, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri to Donald E. Hill Sr. and Sherlene M. Hill.

She grew up in Independence, Missouri where she attended William Southern Elementary and Truman High School. She played basketball in high school, graduating in 1978.

She attended college at Bethel College in McKenzie, TN, graduating in 1985 with a BS in Education and later accrued a Master of Science in Education at MSU in Springfield, Missouri.

August 3, 1985 she married David Pinnell.

She taught three years in Springville, TN before returning to Missouri to the rural Stockton area in 1989. After returning to Missouri Cindy began teaching Special Education classes at Greenfield, Missouri for 22 years. Along with teaching she coached volleyball, girl’s basketball, and softball and also sponsored the student council.

January 3, 2004 she married Larry L. Hayes.

She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Missouri State Teachers Association, Eternal Order of Eagles and the Southern Cruisers Motorcycle Club.

Preceding her in death were her father Donald E. Hill, Sr. and her first husband David E. Pinnell.

Survivors include her husband, Larry L. Hayes, Stockton; mother & stepfather Sherlene and Newell Netsch, Stockton; two brothers Donald E. Hill, Jr. (Teressa), Independence, Mo.; Mark W. Hill (Marti), Holts Summit, Mo.; two sisters, Deborah Endecott (Gary), Grain Valley, Mo.; and Cheryl Stoneking, Independence, Mo. Also surviving are two stepsons, Larry Shaundale Hayes (Alysia), Morrisville, Mo.; and Benjamin Hayes (Kim), Sapulpa, Ok.; nine step grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Cindy fought a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cindy Hayes Scholarship Fund of Greenfield Schools, the Order of Eastern Star Welfare Fund, or a charity of your choice.

A Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Greenfield High School, Greenfield, Missouri.
